I've Been Practicing Chiropractic Since 1996. What I Do Today Looks Very Different.

When I graduated from chiropractic school in 1996, I had one goal: help people feel better.

Almost 30 years later, that hasn't changed.

But the way I practice certainly has.

I've spent most of my career in traditional chiropractic offices. I've adjusted thousands of patients, helped people through some pretty difficult problems, and built successful practices along the way.

And I still love adjusting. It's one of the things I do best.

But somewhere along the way, I started asking myself a question.

What if we could do more?

Not just get someone out of pain. Not just improve their mobility. But actually help them feel better in ways that go beyond their original complaint.

What I've Learned Over 30 Years

One thing I've learned is that people rarely walk into an office with just one problem.

They might come in because their neck hurts or their back has been bothering them.

But start talking to them, and you discover they're not sleeping well. They're stressed. They're exhausted. They don't recover like they used to.

And sometimes they've been feeling that way for so long they think it's normal.

I've also learned that the nervous system plays an important role in how we function, respond to stress, and recover.

That's always been part of my interest in chiropractic, especially with my background in neurology.

But today, we have access to technology and approaches that simply weren't available when I started practicing.

And that opened up some interesting possibilities.

So I Decided to Build Something Different

When I opened NeuroBalance Chiropractic in Chapel Hill, I didn't want to create another traditional chiropractic office.

I've already done that.

I wanted to build the kind of practice I would enjoy visiting myself.

A place where you're not rushed through an appointment.

Where we actually have time to talk.

Where we can look beyond the immediate complaint and pay attention to how your body is functioning.

And where your visit doesn't end the moment I finish adjusting you.

At NeuroBalance, I combine the hands-on care I've spent nearly three decades developing with technologies and techniques designed to support movement, recovery, and nervous-system regulation.

Depending on the individual, that might include chiropractic adjustments, focused shockwave therapy, laser therapy, or other approaches.

And just as importantly, I wanted to give people time to relax and recover.

Because I think that's something we've largely forgotten in healthcare.

Sometimes people just need someone to slow down, pay attention, and take care of them.

It's a Different Experience

I sometimes describe what we're doing as a combination of healthcare, a workout, and a spa experience.

I know that sounds a little unusual coming from a chiropractor.

But that's actually the point.

I want people to look forward to their appointments.

I want them to leave feeling like they've done something good for themselves.

Not simply because their back feels better, but because someone took the time to focus on them.

Recently, a patient who had traveled from Goldsboro to Chapel Hill experienced our newer approach.

Afterward, he told me something that really stuck with me:

“I would drive from Goldsboro for this, and not for an adjustment.”

Coming from someone who has received chiropractic care for years, that meant a lot.

It told me we're creating something people recognize as different.

The Best Part? I'm Still Learning.

After almost 30 years, I'm more excited about practicing than I've been in a long time.

I still love the hands-on work. I still love figuring out complicated problems. And there's nothing quite like watching someone improve when they've been struggling.

But now I get to combine everything I've learned over the years with some genuinely exciting new approaches.

I'm not trying to reinvent chiropractic.

I'm trying to take the best of what I've learned and create a better experience for the people who trust me with their care.

And quite frankly, I'm having a great time doing it.
